Route types

How the three route types differ

The same city may offer all three entry types: IEPL Dedicated, Relay and Direct. What sets them apart is not whether they connect, but how the path is routed, how stable it stays at peak hours, and how much the underlying capacity costs. Keep those three things in mind and you will not pick a route by city name alone.

IEPL Dedicated

A private cross-border channel

IEPL stands for International Ethernet Private Line: traffic between the two endpoints travels over a dedicated carrier-provided channel, moving end to end on a single link rather than hopping through the public internet.

Relay

Two controllable legs

Your connection lands on a relay server first, which forwards it on to the target region. In effect, one unstable cross-border path is replaced by two legs that are each easier to control, at the cost of one extra hop.

Straight into the target region

Your client connects straight to the entry point in the target region with no extra forwarding. It is the simplest structure with the shortest path, and suits regions where cross-border routing is already good.

Everyday browsing and office work: stability first, speed second

Web pages, email and online documents are not latency-sensitive; what really shapes the experience is whether the connection drops. Prefer the closest city entry point among Direct or Relay routes — shorter path, fewer hops. If things are fine during the day but slow down noticeably at night, your ISP's cross-border routing is usually congested at peak hours; switching to an IEPL Dedicated entry in the same region makes a visible difference.

4K streaming and video: sustained bandwidth beats peak speed

4K bitrates need sustained, steady bandwidth; short peaks mean nothing — what decides the experience is whether speed drops at any point during playback. Peak hours are when streaming is most likely to struggle, and where an IEPL Dedicated route proves its value most. On region choice: first confirm the target platform's catalogue and region rules, then pick an entry point in the same region rather than routing the long way round.

AI tool sessions: long connections hate being rerouted

AI tool requests are long-lived connections with streamed responses, and a single exchange can last from tens of seconds to several minutes. A hiccup on the path shows up as an answer that stalls halfway or has to be sent again. In this kind of scenario the difference between Dedicated and Relay is more obvious than any speed test number: a dedicated path is fixed and is unlikely to be rerouted mid-session.

Online gaming: latency and packet loss first

Games are the most sensitive to round-trip latency and packet loss, and a gap of tens of milliseconds shows up directly in how the game feels. When choosing a route, prefer IEPL Dedicated and pick the entry point closest to the city where the game server sits. If the game has its own accelerator, the two can coexist: the accelerator handles the game process, the route handles all other traffic.

Large files and backups: it comes down to data budget

Uploading and downloading large files is about throughput and data cost, and latency barely matters. These tasks suit Relay routes and are best scheduled outside local peak hours. If your plan has a data cap, run heavy transfers right after the data resets so you do not burn through the allowance early in the cycle. Monthly plans reset their data on the activation date each month, and upgrading mid-cycle prorates the price difference across the remaining days.

The cities in the route table do not quite match what I see in the client. Is that normal?

Yes. This page lists representative routes for each region so you can check whether a target region has an entry point; the list inside the client comes with your subscription, expands by region and route type, and is more complete. A difference in count does not mean routes are missing — go by what is actually selectable in the client.

Is IEPL Dedicated always faster than Relay?

Not necessarily, but the difference in stability is clearer. The advantage of a dedicated line is a fixed path that does not reroute when public routes congest, so peak-hour fluctuations are usually smaller than on Relay or Direct. If the leg from your device to the entry point is itself congested, a dedicated line will not fix it; in that case switching to a closer city entry point usually helps more.

How many devices can use the same subscription at once?

There is no limit on simultaneous devices. Phones, tablets and computers can share one subscription at the same time, with no separate purchase per device. Import the subscription link once in the client; when you change devices, just import the same subscription again.

Do routes change? How often should I update my subscription?

Routes are added and removed as operations change, and new regions and route types are delivered through your subscription. Let the client update the subscription automatically on your chosen schedule; if a region's entries look different from before, one manual update pulls the latest list. Updating the subscription does not affect the validity period or data allowance of a plan you have already purchased.
